A Ramadan gift box is a box of things that get used during the month, arranged so it looks like you thought about it. You can buy one ready-made, or you can put one together in twenty minutes for less money and with better things in it. Here are five, with exactly what goes in each.
1. The iftar box
For a family you are not able to have over. Medjool dates, a jar of raw honey, a bag of good coffee or a tin of tea, a set of Turkish tea glasses, and a small Quran verses jar for the table. Line the box with a tea towel and tuck the dates on top.
2. The prayer box
For a new Muslim, a new convert’s family, or a friend starting fresh this year. A prayer rug and tasbih set, the pocket Fortress of the Muslim, and The Clear Quran. Everything a person needs to pray and read for thirty days, in one box.
3. The kids’ box
For a niece, a nephew, or your own children on the first night. A kids’ prayer rug, a countdown calendar, 30 Bedtime Stories from the Quran, and our 30 Everyday Duas for Kids cards printed and tied with a ribbon. Add chunky crayons and a few colouring pages and the box becomes an afternoon.
4. The home box
For someone who has just moved. A Bismillah wall piece, a moon and star garland, a lantern, and dates. The wall art is the gift and the rest is Ramadan.
5. The self-care box
For a mother who will spend the month cooking for everyone else. A sandalwood tasbih, black seed oil, honey, a candle, and a printed copy of the Ramadan Planner 2027, so that at least one thing in the month is organised for her.
Making the box look like a gift
A plain cardboard box becomes a gift box with crinkle paper or a folded tea towel in the bottom, the tallest item at the back, and the dates in front. Tie it with ribbon or twine. Write the name on a tag. Do not wrap it, since the whole point is that it gets opened at the door.
Give it in the first ten days. A Ramadan gift box that arrives on day twenty-five has missed most of the month it was for.
